How Getting Out of Retail handles personal information and protects its communities.

Information you choose to send

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message so that we can respond. The form is processed by Netlify on our behalf. We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for the enquiry, our records or a legal obligation.

Free tools

The current Skills-to-Career Mapper and CV Foundations tool calculate results in your browser. Their answers are not sent to our database. The mapper can pass selected evidence to the CV tool using temporary browser session storage, which is cleared by your browser at the end of the session.

If saved and emailed reports are introduced, the tool will explain what is stored, how long it is kept and how to delete it before you submit anything. Permission to receive marketing will remain a separate, optional choice.

Hosting and technical records

The public website is hosted by Netlify and editorial content is stored in an isolated Supabase project. Those providers may process routine security and server records, such as IP addresses, request times and browser information, to deliver and protect the service.

Optional analytics

If you allow analytics through the website's consent control, Google Analytics measures visits, page use and broad device or browser information so we can understand and improve the site. The measurement identifier is G-DVKK82F1QC. Analytics does not load if you decline or have not yet chosen.

We rely on your consent for this optional measurement. You can change your choice through Cookie settings in the footer. Google processes analytics information as our service provider under its own data-protection terms.

Affiliate and external links

Some book links are Amazon affiliate links. Amazon may process information after you follow a link in line with its own privacy notice. Links to Facebook, LinkedIn and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.

Your choices and rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or object to how it is used where applicable. Use the contact page and describe your request clearly. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it.

Changes

We will update this notice when the website adds saved reports, newsletters or other features that change how information is handled.
